The Drive to Survive

Hosted by Earth Connection founder Tim MacWelch

The Drive To Survive
is the world's first and only radio talk show dedicated to the arts of wilderness survival, emergency preparedness and self sufficiency. The show's host, Tim MacWelch, has been a professional wilderness survival instructor for almost 15 years. This radio program will provide our listeners with lifesaving knowledge and concepts that have been carefully arranged to give you the best chance of staying safe, in even the worst emergencies.

Our goal is to provide lifesaving skills, and make them understandable to everyone. Our belief is that anyone can survive. Our mission is to make that a reality.

Didn't get to hear the show live? Each show will be archived on the network and you can also download each episode as an MP3 file. The shows will also be available on iTunes shortly thereafter.

Parents' Nights Out!

Several Saturday nights each month, the Quest Center hosts Parents' Nights Out.  These events take place from 5:30pm-8:30pm and included themed games and pizza.  Parents can drop off their kids, then return three hours late to pick up their well-fed, tuckered-out kiddos!  Each PNO has a theme, such as Dodgeball Night, NERF Night, Stealth Night, and Epic Battle Night.  Cost for the evening is $25 ($15 for additional siblings), and you can call or stop by the front desk to sign up.  These tend to fill up quickly, so sign up early!

Kids' Wilderness Skills and Games in the Jungle!

These events are intended for kids ages 9 and up, and they take place at the Earth Connection site in Mebane, NC.  Things covered include everything from obstacle courses to Epic Capture the Flag games.  This group is similar to Arashikage (below), but is geared toward kids of all ages and training levels.

Arashikage!

Arashikage is a youth wilderness survival group led by Mr. Hardee.  This group of older youth meets periodically in "the Jungle" (the Earth Connection site in Mebane, NC) and trains in such things including (but not limited to) obstacle courses, wilderness survival skills, ninja stealth training, fitness, construction of shelters and bridges, and various competitions.

Red Cross Wilderness First Aid Course.

This two day seminar covers Red Cross's requirements for First Aid certification in a wilderness setting.  Participants will learn how to identify various common injuries and illnesses and will go over the best ways to stabilize an injured person until professional help can be reached.  Each situation will go through many contingencies, depending on what supplies are available and how long it will take to get out of the wilderness situation.  Upon completion of this course, all participants will receive by mail a card from Red Cross showing that they have completed the course and are certified in Wilderness First Aid.
