Beginner Jiu-Jitsu
Beginner classes will consist of the individual techniques that make up the art of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. You will learn proper positioning, individual techniques, and most importantly the underlying principles that make our art so effective. Even though it's called the beginner class, many of our best higher level students attend and assist in these classes. The difference between a good martial artist and a great martial artist is more complete understanding of the basics.
Advanced Jiu-Jitsu
The advanced class focuses on technique combinations, counters, flows, and overall strategies. Your instructor will show you how to always be a step ahead of your opponent and help you plan for any contingency. To get the maximum benefit from this class, a solid understanding of the basics is necessary, but any student who feels he or she is ready just needs to ask one of the instructors if it is appropriate if they attend. These classes end in the rolling (sparring) sessions for which Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is famous.
All-Levels Classes
One of the many things that makes Chapel Hill Gracie Jiu-Jitsu a great place to train is the wide range of training times. We are one of the few academies in the Chapel Hill, Durham, and Carrboro areas that offer morning classes. These classes are just what they sound like; this class covers some aspects of both classes based on your needs as a student. Usually these classes end with a drilling or rolling session.
