Chapel Hill Quest Center

Student Creed

I believe in myself
I am confident
I can accomplish my goals

I believe in what I study
I am disciplined
I am ready to learn and advance

I believe in my teachers
I show respect to all who help me progress

In order to earn your white belt, every student must memorize and recite the Student Creed.  The white belt is the most important belt, as you cannot earn any other belts without the first foundation representing the beginning of this new phase in your life.

At the Quest Center, you will find classes for youth of all ages, from four years old through teenagers.  We have a thriving youth population of around 200 students, and the skills learned in Ninjutsu will serve your children throughout their lives.  Below is more information about  the specific training philosophies for the Mighty Dragons (ages 4-6) and Youth (ages 7-14)

Mighty Dragons (Ages 4-6)

In the Mighty Dragons classes, children have fun while gaining confidence, body awareness, and basic self-defense skills. Along the way, these students "learn how to learn" by developing group interaction skills, self-discipline, focus and respect for others.

Classes are designed with consideration of the short attention spans of younger students. Leaping, ducking, rolling, and dodging skills are all taught as methods of avoidance, and they will learn modified versions of adult katas. Elaborate obstacle courses and games have been created to best teach these skills in a way that keeps the energy high and the learning exciting. The classes are safe and non-competitive.

We believe in abundance of praise, encouragement, and positive reinforcement. Our young students are treated with respect, and are taught to return the same respect to others.  Mighty Dragons embrace the Student Creed (on the left) and will learn about the positive safety effects of confidence and awareness.

Youth Ninjutsu Classes (Ages 7-14)

For both adult and youth students, To Shin Do teaches a system of martial strategies that are effective in resolving conflicts of all kinds, including physical, emotional, and social challenges. These conflict resolution skills are essential for handling the negative circumstances are inevitable in day-to-day life.

For young individuals who are still forming their core personality and habits, Ninjutsu offers training in confidence, self-awareness, empowerment, and the essential habits of encouraging and embracing the positive circumstances that are also inevitable in day-to-day life.   The youth program of To-Shin Do is designed for students between 7 and 14 years of age--old enough to be forming opinions about life and relationships, yet still naturally receptive to the presentation of life lessons.
