Tengu Training - BJJ Retreat
Join us near Blowing Rock, North Carolina, for a weekend of Jiu-Jitsu training, belt testing, hiking, and time together off the mats!
Participants may camp at the retreat location or arrange their own accommodations at a nearby hotel or Airbnb.
Friday September 11
After 3:00 p.m. — Arrival and Check-In
Set up your campsite or check into your accommodations before meeting the group for dinner.
7:00 p.m. — Hardee’s Birthday Dinner
We’ll gather at Outback Steakhouse for a group dinner and birthday celebration. Dinner is optional, and each participant will be responsible for their own meal.
Saturday September 12
8am - 9am - Breakfast on your own, grab breakfast in town if you are staying in a hotel. Campers can prepare their own breakfast at camp before heading to the house for training.
9:00–9:30 a.m. — Warm-Up and Stretching
Meet in the dojo to prepare for the day’s training.
9:30–11:30 a.m. — Jiu-Jitsu Instruction
11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. — Belt Testing
12:30–1:30 p.m. — Lunch
Participants may enjoy lunch on their own. Please bring your own food with you if you are staying off-site, there won't be time to go into town for food at lunchtime.
1:30 p.m. — Group Waterfall Hike
Meet with the group for a hike down to the waterfall. Optional cold water or immersion, or just hang out and enjoy the sights. Please bring appropriate shoes, water, and anything else you may need for the trail.
5:00 p.m. — Pack Up and Departure
Participants may head home or stay for an optional group dinner in Blowing Rock on our way out!
Accommodations
Participants may choose to:
- Camp at the retreat location (primitive camping, no showers or restrooms, water is from a hose and bathrooms are portable)
- Reserve a hotel near Blowing Rock
- Book a nearby Airbnb
